Description
Sun School Street Wigan by James Lawrence Isherwood
Recognisable Wigan street scenes are eternally some of Isherwood’s most popular subject matters, depicting his home town and it’s townsfolk during a bygone era. This particular painting is a very early example of the Wigan scenes dating from the late 1950s and shows School Street, a regular haunt of Isherwood’s near to the family cobblers on Greenough Street. This particulary rare early example is executed on plywood and titled to the reverse in pencil by Isherwood’s own hand.
Do not delay if you would like to add this to your collection as it is truly a rare one off piece and comes directly from the estate of Isherwood’s late partner, Pat White.

This piece comes professionally framed and signed by the artist.
