Original oil on board painting by Lawrence Isherwood painted in homage to artist Andre Derain.
Occasionally Isherwood would take inspiration from other leading artists from art history and completed works in the style of the likes of Claude Monet, Matthew Smith and Mondrian to name a few. In this composition, Isherwood tackles the work of Andre Derain depicting a Thames boat scene with Tower Bridge in the background.
The work is signed by Isherwood with the words ‘After Derain’ to the front and comes from the estate of his late partner Pat White.
