Pit Men by James Lawrence Isherwood
Original oil on board painting by Lawrence Isherwood depicting Pit Men working beneath the pit head. Although Isherwood is known to have depicted miners and occasionally landscapes containing Pit Heads, this particular composition is incredibly unusual. A wonderfully creative and imaginative way to depict the toil of the many men working underground in the mining industry.
Signed by Isherwood and titled to the reverse, this particularly rare example is offered professionally framed and comes from the estate of Isherwood’s late partner, Pat White.
