From Chorley Road Wigan, Factory Sun by Isherwood
A wonderful original oil on board painting by the late Wigan artist James Lawrence Isherwood. Using his familiar technique of thinning his paints and allowing it to run down the composition, Isherwood captures the Wigan skyline featuring the factory chimneys and the silhouette of the Church as viewed from Chorley Road.
Although unsigned, this wonderful painting comes directly from the collection of Isherwood’s late partner in the second half of the 1970s, Pat White. The work is titled to the reverse and illustrated in the commemorative brochure for the ‘Pat White’ collection.
