Basque Sunflowers by Ross Constable

Inspired by Van Gogh’s sunflowers, Ross Constable tackled the iconic sunflowers having visited the Basque region of Spain and having seen the beautiful flowers in abundance.  As is often the case with Ross’ floral studies, the composition reflects the artists sense of being broken during his illness but then reflects the positivity of rebirth aided by nature through the vibrant flowers.
