With a vivid and striking colour palette of black and orange, this painting features Isherwood’s recognisable shawled figures and flat capped men in a bus queue.

From the collection of Isherwood’s fiance in the late 1970s, Pat White, the painted amazingly includes an inscription from Pat to Isherwood on the reverse which reads as follows…
