Description

Charis by Carl Payne Bronze Sculpture

A wonderful and delicate bronze sculpture by the late British sculptor Carl Payne.  Cast in bronze, the sculpture is from an edition of 9 and this is edition number 1.

Charis, often referred to as one of the Three Graces (Charites) in Greek mythology, represents grace and beauty. The Three Graces were goddesses who embodied the qualities of charm, beauty, and creativity, and they were typically depicted as three beautiful sisters who personified different aspects of grace.

Charis (or Aglaea), whose name means “grace” or “kindness,” is sometimes identified as Aglaea, meaning “splendor” or “brightness.” As the personification of beauty and grace, Charis was often seen as the goddess who bestowed these qualities upon mortals and gods alike. She is associated with attributes of elegance, charm, and artistic expression.

This gorgeous depiction of Charis is signed in the cast by Carl Payne, numbered and complete with certificate of authenticity.
