Description
Evening at Appley Bridge by Theodore Major Original Painting
A heavy impasto original oil on canvas painting by the late Wigan artist Theodore Major. Painted in bold reds, the painting depicts his home village of Appley Bridge but interestingly also features a still life painting to the reverse. As Major was reluctant to sell his paintings, particularly in the second half of his life, space was at a premium in his house so he would on occasion paint on the reverse of the canvas as is the case with this wonderful painting.
Executed on canvas, typical of his earlier works, this is accompanied by a certificate confirming that it was purchased directly from the Major family.
