Girl Walking by L S Lowry Original Drawing
We are thrilled to be able to offer this rare and beautiful original pencil drawing by the late L S Lowry.
This piece comes beautifully framed with museum glass to protect it for future generations along with extensive provenance.
Originally from the collection of the Reverend Geoffrey Bennett, this fine example of Lowry’s figure work has been through the hands of several leading Lowry galleries including Halcyon Gallery in London and Clark Art in Hale and still bears the Halcyon label verso.
As well as being a talented artist, Reverend Bennett worked in a bank in Whitehaven in 1939 before becoming an Anglican vicar in Rockcliffe and Carlisle. Through his art Reverend Bennett struck up a friendship with Lowry which led the famous artist to visit him in Cumbria and he even played a part in Lowry’s funeral in 1976.
Upon his death in 1991, his estate owned 17 Lowry originals which were shown around Cumbria before being sold in London in 1995.
