Description

Station Approach by L S Lowry Signed Limited Edition Print

A hand signed limited edition L S Lowry print entitled ‘Station Approach’.  The Station in question was Manchester Exchange Station, now demolished, which was located across from Manchester Cathedral at the end of an “approach” that spanned the River Irwell and is clearly visible here in Lowry’s work.  The artist showed his playful side by presenting the statue of Oliver Cromwell, seen at the forefront of the picture, so as to resemble a policeman directing the crowds of people making their way to and from the station!
