Reg Gardner
Reg Gardner, born in 1948 in Prestwich, Manchester, is a British painter celebrated for his warm impressionist depictions of urban scenes, particularly those of Manchester. His artistic journey commenced early; at 12, he won his first art competition in the Manchester Evening News and Chronicle.
Gardner went on to earn a scholarship to the Manchester High School of Art, where he honed his skills by studying the works of master artists in public galleries. Many awards and solo exhibitions have followed and his works have been exhibited at Stockport Art Gallery, the Manchester Academy and London’s National Theatre where he has been championed by the likes of Sir Ian McKellen.
Gardner’s art is distinguished by his exceptional ability to evoke nostalgia through impressionistic portrayals of urban landscapes. His subject matters are varied but he is widely known and collected internationally particularly for his depictions of the urban north, often around Manchester and the North West.
