New Collection from Ross Constable
Last updated onWe are thrilled this week to have received a stunning new collection of paintings from the super talented artist, Ross Constable.

As is often the case with Ross, the new works are inspired by nature and it’s amazing healing properties which have helped him so much on his journey to recovery.
Ross is always looking to raise awareness of the value of nature in improving our mental health and well being and he has certainly done that with this new collection.

Find Your Sanctuary by Ross Constable, £1695
Inspired by Ross Constable’s desire to raise awareness of the healing properties of nature, he takes us into the heart of Manchester in this painting in search of our physcological sanctuary. Framed by the beautiful willow, the geese swim serenely along Manchester’s waterways which traverse the city and take the viewer past the iconic pub, The Peveril of the Peak. This famous pub, a sanctuary in it’s own right for some, leads visitors through a gate to the rear to another sanctuary where city goers can sit and meet. All set amongst the bustle of the cities landmarks including Sankeys Soap, another reference to Ross’s earlier years, proves that there is sanctuary in nature in the most unlikely places.

Nagomi by Ross Constable, £1695
Nagomi, meaning emotional balance in Japanese, is a wonderful composition by Ross inspired by Japanese art. Taking inspiration from Japanese artist Hokusai, Ross uses a Yin and Yang motif with the ducks in the foreground grounding the composition in nature as the viewer is taken along Manchester’s waterways into the city. The bridge which frames the upper region of the painting references Valette’s bridge paintings which went on to to inspire his student and Manchester’s most famous artist, L S Lowry.

Basque Sunflowers by Ross Constable, £1695
Inspired by Van Gogh’s sunflowers, Ross tackled the iconic sunflowers having visited the Basque region of Spain and having seen the beautiful flowers in abundance. As is often the case with Ross’ floral studies, the composition reflects the artists sense of being broken during his illness but then reflects the positivity of rebirth aided by nature through the vibrant flowers.

Capturing the attitude and charisma of a truly Mancunian Mallard, Ross brings his unique touch to this rainy scene. With his wonderful eye for colour and composition, Ross brings a whole new dimension to what could be a somewhat mundane scene when captured by many.
Available to purchase by contacting the gallery or on the website now while stock lasts. The paintings are currently available to view in the Wilmslow gallery so why not call in this weekend and take a look in person.
