Port Fish by Lawrence Isherwood
A rare and exquisitively painting original oil on board painting by the late Wigan artist, James Lawrence Isherwood. Although Isherwood repeated many subject matters throughout his life, this early study of a fish’s head is one of the only ones known to exist and demonstrates incredible brush work and a true eye for handling colour and paint. This painting really does have to be examined close up in person to fully appreciate the quality of brushwork at play.
